FIELD GUIDE CHECKED SEP 27, 2026 · PATCH 0.4.5

Storage across a production chain

Storage has a direct production role in 0.4.5: crafting halts with a notification when it is full. Target-stock controls and storefront routing can keep finished goods from blocking ingredients and the next production batch.

Current EA changes that affect this page

Right-click a crafting recipe in a business to choose storage, storefront or a target-stock policy. The September 24 explanation describes sending production above the retained target to the storefront. Production now halts and raises a notification when storage is full. A stopped job can therefore be the intended response to an unavailable output destination. Masters no longer sell ingredients through carts or storefronts unless storage is completely full. The storage-full exception is part of the documented rule. The hotfix lists a correction for AI Masters not crafting recipes with multiple ingredients. Missing inputs, transport delays and full storage remain separate causes to inspect.

Plan the buffer deliberately

List the stock currently held, the next incoming delivery and the next output batch. Use consistent units from your game’s storage UI. Until slot and stack rules are verified, a planner must not turn a count of items into a count of occupied slots automatically.

Mark reserved goods

An intermediate may be needed for a later craft, and a finished item may be reserved for a character action. Label that reservation before treating the item as saleable surplus. The goods diary’s silver chain is a useful example of stock with both sale and personal-use destinations.

Keep demo capacity historical

The July demo changed shed storage capacities. Those patch values are retained for patch impact, but cannot define Early Access storage. Recheck the installed build’s capacity when resuming a saved plan.
