Choose how to continue an old demo save

Inspect the right state

Identify whether the save came from the original demo or the updated release-era demo. The official launch post names demo_0.3.0 as the older branch retained for existing playthroughs. Keep that source boundary with the save you are trying to load.

Make the decision

Preserve the original before changing branches or starting a new campaign. Follow the official branch information rather than renaming or rewriting the save format. Current 0.4.5 mechanics and values should not be projected into a campaign running on the older branch.

Verify the result

If the problem involves a current EA save instead, record its originating build and error separately. The old-demo warning alone does not diagnose that case; retain the actual save and seek a reproducible explanation.
