Inspect the right state
Check whether the output remains in the storeroom, has moved to the storefront, or was actually sold. A listed value in the item register is a secondary reference; the current buy and sell tooltips can differ through market conditions and modifiers.
Make the decision
Record revenue only for the completed sale you observed. Keep the original ingredient and operating costs in the same period when reviewing a margin. Stock retained for another recipe has a different role from sale-bound inventory, even if the goods share an item name.
Verify the result
Compare opening cash, actual receipts and actual expenses after the transaction. If a projected margin looked positive but cash fell, inspect unsold inventory and commitments before assuming the arithmetic or market is broken.
