Distinguish a reference law from the enacted rule

The Lawbook in your current city takes priority over the register’s default. A source default describes the reference, not every campaign’s present legislation.

Inspect the right state

Select the law relevant to the intended action and inspect its current setting. Record the city and time alongside the rule. Compare the source default only after you know what is enacted in the save, especially when political offices have changed.

Make the decision

Follow the linked legislator or office to understand the documented authority relationship. Keep an action’s legality, the severity of an offense and evidence about a particular act in separate fields. A rule change does not itself prove someone committed the act.

Verify the result

If preparing a case, retain the observed rule with the alleged action and each evidence piece. The archive does not assume that a new default overrides every existing case or that a listed crime is always illegal in all cities.

Read the evidence correctly

Official patch notes establish the shipped changes they name. Secondary figures remain attributed reference values until checked in the installed game.
